I’m Horrible!!!

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

OK guys, I’m horrible at blogging! I admit it, although truly it is so obvious since I haven’t posted since May 8th! Yikes! So I am announcing a commitment I will do my best to - well - commit to and that is to post a blog every day for the month of July. Given my history, we’ll see how that goes, but I am going to give this a good college try! Wish me luck!!!

Today I received a cold call from a skin care company promising a machine I could purchase and use on clients that eliminates cell destruction, effectively stopping the aging process. Aside from the obvious invalidity of this (right?) I stopped the woman mid-sentence and said that I didn’t want to waste her time and wasn’t interested in this or any kind of similar product. I told her that my philosophy is based on “what’s wrong with aging?” And for those of you who know me, you know that is true. As I tell everyone who will listen, we are ALL on the train…the aging train. We boarded at birth and the train is moving, however fast or slow. But we are all on it. It’s how you choose to live on the train that I believe makes your life worth living. Not so much how you look in the mirror.

So this phone call ended sort of abruptly, which is fine. I truly didn’t want to waste this lady’s time. I’m sure there will be lots of skin care folks who want to buy that machine to sell their clients on the idea that aging is bad, when for me in my mind aging isĀ  normal and completely inevitable. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I should change my whole paradigm of aging is cool and interesting and sets us apart as individuals. And then again, maybe not. There may be few people who agree with me, but when I look in the mirror I keep saying, “Hey - you’re 48!” That is what 48 looks like for me.

Happy Tuesday and remember: drink lots of water and breathe!
